HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL ROUNDUP : Harvard-Westlake Runs Up 29-9 Win
Running back Don Donester rushed for 183 yards in 23 carries and three touchdowns to lead Harvard-Westlake to a 29-9 victory over St. Monica on Saturday night at Culver City High.
Danny Mason chipped in with 60 yards in seven carries and a touchdown. Receiver Kevin Goldfein caught four passes for 107 yards.
Harvard Westlake maintained ball control throughout, sending the 6-foot-2, 215-pound Donester both inside and out. He broke loose on runs of 57 and 48 yards in the second half, with the 57-yarder setting the game’s final score.
The Wolverines broke on top, 7-0, in the first quarter on a five-play, 41-yard drive after an interception and a 21-yard return by Ratha HarnthQ.
After St. Monica’s Jason Jones kicked a 25-yard field goal, Donester scored on a two-yard run, capping a 69-yard drive that was keyed by a 42-yard pass play from Chris Gabriele to Kevin Goldfein.
Later in the quarter, Matt Seebree kicked a 25-yard field goal with three seconds left to give Harvard-Westlake a 16-3 lead.
