Deadline Is Today for ’90 Disaster Aid
Today is the deadline for Ventura County growers to apply for disaster assistance to help cover financial losses they incurred from inferior-quality crops produced after the freeze of 1990.
Other assistance programs, which brought about $3.5 million to Ventura County growers, covered losses in quantity, but did not compensate growers for lower quality fruit that brought lower-than-normal revenues.
Crop losses from Ventura County growers totaled $128 million after the three-day freeze at Christmas, 1990.
Growers who lost revenue from other weather-related problems in 1991 or ’92 may also apply for the program.
