Parent Workshops Get Underway
SANTA ANA — The Recreation and Community Services Agency will present a series of free parenting workshops that will discuss gang prevention and effective discipline techniques.
Topics will also include family communication, and respect and dignity, said spokeswoman Dawna Sims.
The goal of the nine-workshop series is to “educate the parents on early warning signs (of gang involvement), intervention strategies, and to help improve the parenting skills of our parents.”
The series is co-sponsored by the city’s anti-gang program Project PRIDE (Parks and Recreation Inspire Dignity and Esteem).
The workshops will be held at the Southwest Senior Center, 2201 W. McFadden Ave., Saturdays beginning today. Workshops will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and free child care will be provided, Sims said.
