Captain McEnroe? He’s Wrong Choice for U.S.
For many years, the two best male tennis players in the country were Jimmy Connors and John McEnroe. But tennis fans were embarrassed and had to make excuses for their behavior on and off the court. Now a new group of young players has taken over. Fortunately, they have conducted themselves as gentlemen and sportsmen.
After the announcement that Tom Gorman is stepping down as Davis Cup captain, it has been reported that McEnroe wants the job. I hope that the U.S. Tennis Assn. does not make that mistake. What we need is another gentleman like Tom Gorman to represent this country, not a spoiled brat.
