Film Association Names 1st Female Chief Executive

Pamela A. Pickering was elected as the first female chairman and chief executive of the 14-year-old American Film Marketing Assn.

Pickering, vice president of international distribution at Republic Pictures International, defeated Lloyd Kaufman with 68% of the vote. She replaces Michael Goldman, who completed his two-year term.

The association is made up of 105 independent film companies that produce, finance and license films internationally.

Charlie Minor, one of the music industry’s more colorful and outrageous executives, has been named president of Hits magazine’s new business division.

Minor was most recently president of Giant Records. Before that, he worked 17 years at A&M; Records, serving as the label’s promotion chief.

In a statement, Hits said Minor will direct its music-related business “and have countless dinners with music industry weasels.”

The Walt Disney Music Department promoted Matt Walker to vice president of music creative affairs for Walt Disney and Touchstone, made Andy Hill vice president of music production and named Bill Green to head music creative affairs for Hollywood and Caravan Pictures.

Sony Pictures Entertainment’s Triumph Releasing Corp. named Robert Moulton vice president of financial services.

Sony also named J. Richard West vice president and general manager of Sony Pictures High Definition Center.

Warner Bros. Television named Samuel Wolfson director of labor relations.
