PRO FOOTBALL DAILY REPORT : AROUND THE NFL : Packers’ Bennett Might Sit Out Season
The agent for Green Bay Packer linebacker Tony Bennett said that two days of meetings with team officials brought no compromise in the 75-day stalemate, and that Bennett might sit out the season.
“I don’t anticipate anything happening for quite some time,” agent Pat Dye Jr. told the Green Bay Press-Gazette.
Dye said he proposed an offer that would have paid Bennett an average of $1.5 million per season over two years. Reports said Bennett had earlier been seeking a three-year deal averaging $2.1 million and that the Packers were offering a three-year contract between $1.2 million and $1.3 million.
