Health Plan Books Selling Briskly
WASHINGTON — Copies of President Clinton’s health care plan were reported to be selling at a brisk pace Wednesday.
Two hours after going on sale to the general public at $45 a copy, the President’s Health Security Plan was being snatched up at the rate of 1,500 copies an hour, the Government Printing Office reported.
It went on sale at the printing office’s main bookstore in Washington, D.C., and will soon be available at other GPO bookstores in 24 cities.
An assortment of people, ranging from lawyers, Capitol Hill aides and those just interested in their health coverage stood in line throughout the afternoon to buy a copy.
The health plan book has 1,342 pages, is more than four inches thick, weighs 5 3/4 pounds and is printed on 8-by-10-inch pages, according to Carlyn Crout, manager of media relations at the GPO.
It can be ordered by calling (202) 783-3238. For another $8.50, the GPO will have it delivered by Federal Express.
