1 Killed, 1 Injured in Jewelry Store Shooting
One man was killed and another critically injured when a man that police believe is a disgruntled former employee opened fire Saturday afternoon in a Downtown jewelry store.
The victims’ names were not available, but police said the man who died was the owner or manager of the jewelry store. He died at about 3 p.m. of multiple gunshot wounds en route to County-USC Medical Center, hospital spokeswoman Adelaida De La Cerda said.
Detectives did not release the name of the suspect but described him as a man in his early 40s who gunned down his victims with a 45-caliber handgun. The shooting occurred at about 2:45 p.m. in a second-story shop at 640 S. Hill St., Sgt. David Alvarez said.
