Iranians Urged to Honor Anniversary of Takeover
NICOSIA, Cyprus — Iran’s Parliament Speaker, Ali Akbar Nateq-Nouri, Saturday urged Iranians to show their defiance of the United States in demonstrations to mark the Nov. 4, 1979, seizure of the U.S. Embassy in Tehran.
The Iranian news agency IRNA quoted Nateq-Nouri as saying “glorious commemoration of Nov. 4 is the best and strongest response to those favoring compromise with the United States. The event should be held more gloriously this year in view of the present conditions.” Accusing Washington of waging an economic and political war against Iran. Nateq-Nouri urged Iranians to show “the world that we are stronger than before in our determination to defend Islam and the revolution.”
