Missing Tourist Found Dehydrated, Disoriented
PINE ISLAND, Fla. — A German tourist missing for nearly four days on southwest Florida’s Gulf Coast was found Saturday dehydrated, disoriented and covered with mosquito bites.
A worker at the Greater Pine Island Water Plant found Karl-Heinz Klug, 39, of Dortmund, Germany. He was lying by a fence clad only in his underwear and was airlifted to Cape Coral Hospital for treatment, officials said.
Klug’s friends in a tour group told authorities he had left their campground Tuesday night to sleep in a rental car. It was found abandoned and mired in mud Wednesday not far from the campground.
