LETTERS : Raw Truth
Daniel Puzo’s article (“Ground Meat Label to Carry Health Instructions,” Oct. 14) reveals the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s total lack of regard for the health interests of the American public and their protection of the food industry profit margin.
Instead of calling for more-sanitary processing facilities, they try to make us believe they are “doing something” by telling us to cook meat more thoroughly. Goodby, steak tartare and rare beef! Hello, shoe leather!
The American public should be outraged and bombard Washington with protest. But instead we let them go on feeding us the same old stuff. Maybe that’s the “beef byproducts” so often seen on the list of ingredients.
