Sunny Hills High School junior Heather Harned, 16, recently received the Silver Congressional Award for community service from the congressional award council of the 38th Congressional District. During the past 15 months, Harned has volunteered more than 200 hours for the International Peace Choir of Long Beach and First Evangelical Free Church of Fullerton. She plays flute for the Fullerton high school’s marching and also enjoys folk dancing and playing the piano.
