First American Title Insurance Buys Its 3rd Firm in Texas This Year
First American Title Insurance Co., expanding further in Texas, said Monday that it has acquired its third title company this year in the Lone Star State.
The Santa Ana company, the nation’s second largest title insurer, did not disclose how much it paid for Fort Bend Title Co. in Richmond and its Houston subsidiary, Citizens Title. Fort Bend and Citizens have three offices each covering Fort Bend and Harris counties.
George Houghton Jr., Fort Bend’s former majority owner, will remain with the company as manager.
Earlier this year, First American bought title companies in San Antonio and Corpus Christi.
The company is the primary subsidiary of First American Financial Corp. and offers its title services through a network of more than 300 offices and 4,000 agents throughout the United States.
