First Lady Tops Out Tree

WASHINGTON — First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton, perched nearly 40 feet in the air on a scissor lift, put the topper on the national Christmas tree Monday. Designed by General Electric, the ornament looks like a big ball with more than a dozen spikes shooting out. President Clinton and his wife are expected to light the Christmas tree Dec. 9.
