OUTLOOK

Sadler, a first-year coach from Northern California, has never coached basketball. But in all his years coaching other prep sports, he has never seen a girls’ team work as hard as Heritage Christian. “They have a lot of heart. And they want to learn as much as they can,” Sadler said. But, despite the enthusiasm, Sadler said some things are obvious. For one, the team does not have that much experience. Only senior Kean, who was all-league last year, has that needed experience. “We’re young. We don’t have that much depth on the bench,” Sadler said. Which is why freshman Larson might very well start. “She and Danielle Gonzales are pretty good players,” Sadler said. “They seem to know their way around a basketball court.” But Sadler wants to see how his players handle some upcoming tournaments before he makes any predictions. “It will be good for us to find out where we stand, and the tournaments are the best way to determine that. After that, we can start from there,” he said.
