Homicide detectives are searching for clues or witnesses to the Sunday shooting death of an Arleta man outside a Mexican restaurant, authorities said.

The body of Jaime Castrellon, 32, was found lying face down in front of the restaurant in the 7200 block of Vineland Avenue about 5:45 p.m., said Detective Oscar Carballo, of the Los Angeles Police Department. Castrellon, who was pronounced dead at the scene, died from multiple gunshot wounds to the chest, Carballo said.

So far, there is no motive and no suspect in the shooting, Carballo said.

“We just know that the poor guy got himself killed in front of the restaurant,” Carballo said. No one has come forward to aid the investigation, but Carballo said there were witnesses to the shooting who may be able to help.

“I’ve been at this for many years, but it’s still sad to see a human being lying on the sidewalk, and nobody willing to come forward and say, ‘Hey, this is what I saw,’ ” Carballo said.

Police are asking anyone with information about the shooting to contact North Hollywood detectives at 989-8831 or 989-8824.
