Medtronic Agrees to Merger With Electromedics: Medtronic Inc. said it will pay $101 million in a merger agreement with Electromedics Inc., capping a month-long bidding war with St. Jude Medical Inc. for a process that recyles a surgical patient’s blood for transfusion. The agreement, dependent on approval by Electromedics shareholders and regulatory authorities, culminates a takeover battle that has had several twists and turns including today’s Medtronic final bid, which adds $6 million to its own $95-million offer. St. Jude Medical, which last bid $90 million for the company, won’t submit a new bid for Electromedics, company officials said.
