Slain Woman Still Unidentified
Los Angeles police are investigating a homicide involving a woman in her late teens or early 20s whose body was found along a dirt road near Moorpark.
Authorities said the woman was strangled in Los Angeles County and her body was dumped in Ventura County. She had not been identified by late Thursday, but authorities said she was a resident of Los Angeles County.
Ventura County Deputy Coroner Craig Stevens said the identification process was being delayed because the county’s forensic dental expert is on vacation, and because only dental X-rays of poor quality were available.
Los Angeles police would not comment on the case, except to say they “developed information” on Thursday that led them to the body. The body was found about 5 p.m. Wednesday with the help of Ventura County sheriff’s deputies.
Wingate said it appeared the body had been dumped about 15 feet down a brush-covered embankment near Gabbert Road.
