Girl, 3, Nestles Up to Mother’s Body in Crash
ROSE TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A 3-year-old girl huddled next to her dead mother’s body to keep warm in near-zero temperatures after their car crashed on a remote road. Amanda Iltis was barefoot when police found her next to the body of her mother, Cheryl, shortly after 8 a.m. Wednesday, about 14 hours after the car crashed.
Amanda suffered bruises, a fractured arm and minor frostbite. She was treated at a hospital and released. Police said the two were headed to a relative’s birthday party when the car ran off the road, hit a tree and came to rest in dense brush.
