FOUNTAIN VALLEY : 2nd Arrest Made in Fall Drive-By Killing
A second suspect has been arrested in connection with an October drive-by shooting outside a cafe here that killed one man and injured two others, police said Wednesday.
Tung Thanh Le, 21, was arrested at his Torrance home Tuesday morning without incident, Sgt. Dan Bean said.
Le is suspected of being in a car that passed by the night of Oct. 20, police said.
Le and several other men are suspected of driving by Cafe Gia Hoi, 9106 Edinger Ave., and firing on three men who were walking out of the restaurant, police said.
One of the victims was hit in the neck and foot and fell in front of the cafe as patrons and employees ran outside after hearing gunshots.
The two other victims ran but were followed by the assailants into a residential neighborhood on Sweetleaf Street. There, one man was shot in the chest and the other in the head.
The victim with the head wound, Tu Anh Nguyen, 19, of Garden Grove died four hours later at Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach.
The survivors have since been released from the hospitals and are recovering, Bean said. Their names have not been released to protect them, he said.
Le was being held at the Huntington Beach City Jail in lieu of $250,000 bail.
The first suspect, 27-year-old Phuong Phuc Le of Garden Grove, was arrested about a week after the shooting and is being held without bail at the Orange County Jail, police said.
The two suspects are not related, Bean said.
