COLLEGE BASKETBALL PACIFIC 10 CONFERENCE ROUNDUP : Parker’s Tip-in Lifts Oregon, 61-60
Darryl Parker tipped in the ball with a just more than a minute to play to lift Oregon to a 61-60 victory over Washington on Saturday night at Eugene, Ore.
Parker’s basket put the Ducks, 6-8 overall and 2-3 in the Pacific 10, ahead, 61-58. The Huskies (2-13, 0-6) cut the lead to one on a hook shot from Maurice Woods with 49 seconds remaining.
On Oregon’s next possession, Kenya Wilkins missed a jumper in the lane as the shot clock was running down.
Jordy Lyden grabbed the rebound for Oregon with 15 seconds to play and missed a 19-footer.
Washington rebounded the ball and, after a timeout, Scott Didrickson missed a three-pointer with five seconds to play. Time expired as Oregon’s Orlando Williams came up with the ball.
Williams led the Ducks with 14 points. Aaron Johnson added 10 points and a game-high 12 rebounds.
Washington’s Amir Rashad led all scorers with 15 points and three other Huskies scored in double figures.
The difference in the game came at the free-throw line. Oregon made 16 of 22 free throws, including four in a row in the last four minutes. Washington was nine of 22 from the free-throw line.
Washington State 81, Oregon State 66--Tony Harris scored 21 points and Mark Hendrickson had 19 points and 14 rebounds to lead the Cougars at Corvallis, Ore.
Harris, who scored 34 points Thursday against Oregon, helped give the Cougars (13-5, 3-3) their third consecutive victory.
Oregon State (5-9, 1-4) faced a double-digit deficit most of the game, despite a career-high 24 points from freshman center Jerohn Brown.
