Trade With China Rises but Growth Slowing: Commerce between the two nations through Hong Kong rose strongly in the first 10 months of 1993, but growth showed signs of slowing because of recent measures by China to restrict imports, the Board of Foreign Trade said. Taiwan-China trade totaled $7.16 billion for the period, a 20% rise from a year earlier. Taiwan’s exports to China jumped 24% to $6.26 billion, while imports were down 2.13% to $900 million. Most Taiwan-China trade goes through Hong Kong because Taipei bans direct transport links with China.
