The Federal Emergency Management Agency is operating several local Disaster Aid Centers and Earthquake Service Centers. Programs are being offered to cover earthquake losses to residences, personal property and businesses not covered by insurance or other aid programs.
Registrants can apply for financial assistance at any center or call the registration line. Be prepared to provide your name, address, Social Security number and those of other occupants in the house at the time of the quake. Centers are open 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday. The Red Cross is operating several local service centers that offer vouchers for food, clothing, temporary housing/rental assistance, help with health/medical needs, urgent household items and some home repairs. Centers are open 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. For locations, call the Red Cross hot line.
