SANTA PAULA : 4 Held on Suspicion of Armed Robbery
Santa Paula police have arrested three men and a 16-year-old boy on suspicion of armed robbery after witnesses told investigators that the group had robbed two men of a wallet and money, and beaten one of them severely.
Police responding to a report of men fighting in the 500 block of East Main Street about 1:45 a.m. Saturday found two men who had been robbed and beaten by the suspects, who later fled, investigators said.
About an hour later, police spotted a vehicle matching the description of the one driven by the suspects and recovered a rifle, the victim’s wallet and an unspecified amount of cash, police said.
Officers arrested Miguel Angel Zamora, 19; Juan Mendoza Ramirez, 18, and Robert Villanueva, 19, all of Santa Paula, and a 16-year-old Santa Paula boy on suspicion of armed robbery.
The three adults were booked at Ventura County Jail, with bail set at $20,000 each, a jail official said Sunday. Police investigators would not identify the victims or provide further details.
