Topics : Transportation: Fares for Shuttle Bus
Lawndale will begin charging passengers of its shuttle bus service on Friday.
Riders between the ages of 6 and 50 will pay 25 cents a trip. Students will ride for 10 cents from 7 to 9 a.m. and 2 to 4 p.m.
The City Council approved the new fares in an effort to discourage joy riding and vandalism on the buses, said Mike Kapanpour, public works manager.
In addition, minor route changes will allow the Lawndale Transit Trolley to run every 30 minutes instead of every 45 minutes.
The fares will help fund road improvements and other transportation projects, Kapanpour said.
