Man Paralyzed in Shooting
A 30-year-old Glendora man remains paralyzed after being shot three times during a botched robbery attempt, authorities said.
Joseph Tufia arrived at the offices of the Nationwide Consultants Group at 1025 W. Arrow Highway about 9 a.m. Sunday and shots were fired, said Glendora Police Sgt. Tim Pfeiffer. Tufia was hit in the leg, left lung and spine, but managed to get to a phone and call 911. He remains hospitalized and doctors think he will be paralyzed for the rest of his life, Pfeiffer said.
Pfeiffer said Tufia is an alleged con man and is wanted by the FBI. He apparently was expected to be carrying a large amount of cash when he was shot.
Acting on information provided by Tufia, police on Sunday arrested a co-owner of Nationwide Consultants, Robert Kirkland Comas, 23, of Upland, and Eugene Campbell, 22, of Covina.
Both were arraigned in Citrus Municipal Court on Tuesday and charged with attempted murder and robbery with intent to cause great bodily injury, Pfeiffer said. The two remain in custody in County Jail in lieu of $1 million bail each.
