ALHAMBRA: A gunman stole an undisclosed amount of cash from the registers at the Grocery Warehouse at 1000 E. Valley Blvd., police reported Friday. The man, who was armed with a large-caliber handgun, walked into the store about 10:15 a.m. and demanded money. No injuries were reported and no arrests have been made.

AZUSA: Two men were arrested Tuesday after neighbors allegedly saw them breaking into an apartment and alerted police. David Soto, 28, and Andrew Ramirez, 30, of Azusa were stopped by officers as they drove away from an apartment complex at 601 E. 8th St. about 9:30 a.m., police said. The back seat of their car held a TV, a VCR, a stereo and other items taken from the unoccupied apartment, police said. Both were charged with burglary. Soto is being held at Azusa Jail in lieu of $30,000 bail and Ramirez is being held without bail because of a parole violation, police said.

BALDWIN PARK: An 18-year-old La Puente man was gunned down on a sidewalk Sunday in the 13700 block of Francisquito Avenue, police said. Joseph Salas died at Queen of the Valley Hospital in West Covina about 10:30 p.m., about three hours after the shooting. Details in the killing are sketchy, but witnesses said Salas and another man in his late teens spoke briefly before the other man drew a gun and fired several rounds into Salas’ chest. Police suspect the shooting was gang-related.

EL MONTE: A 23-year-old El Monte resident was arrested Thursday after police served a search warrant on his home in the 4100 block of La Madera Avenue about 2 p.m. and found a homemade bomb. After the sheriff’s bomb squad defused the device without incident, John Peter Archer was arrested on suspicion of possessing and manufacturing an explosive device at his workplace in Vernon. Police said they also found a pipe bomb and some explosive chemicals at a garage Archer rented in Arcadia. He is in County Jail.

WEST COVINA: Robert Ellis Archie, 30, was shot to death as he sat in his car at Vine Avenue and St. Malo Street Sunday, police said. Apparently a large, dark car pulled up next to him as he waited at the intersection about 10 p.m. and shots were fired into Archie’s vehicle from a large-caliber handgun. Archie was taken to Queen of the Valley Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said. They said the killing may be gang-related.
