World IN BRIEF : GUATEMALA : American Woman Beaten by Mob

An Alaska woman caught up in hysteria over rumors that Americans are stealing children was transferred to a hospital in Guatemala City after suffering severe injuries at the hands of a rural mob. Guatemalan officials identified the woman as Diane Werntock Jung, 52, but U.S. officials said they understood her name to be June Diane Weinstock. She is the third foreigner known to have been attacked in recent days over the rumors.
