IRVINE : Lakeview Center to Open Saturday
A daylong celebration featuring music, food and dancing is planned for Saturday, when the city’s new senior center and adult day care facility opens its doors on the shores of a lake in Woodbridge village.
Television star Art Linkletter will be host at the event, which will include a raffle, a health fair and folk-dancing demonstrations.
The $7-million, 3,593-square-foot Lakeview Senior Center is located off Alton Parkway at 20 Lake Road. The drop-in center was built with a combination of private donations and city funds.
The center includes meeting rooms, an auditorium, a library and a kitchen area where food for a meals-on-wheels program will be prepared.
The adult day care center will provide medically supervised services to frail seniors.
Saturday’s festivities begin at 7:30 a.m. with a $3 pancake breakfast. The doors to the center will open to the public at 10 a.m. An official dedication ceremony will be held at 1 p.m.
Knotts Berry Farm’s Country Western Band will perform, along with can-can dancers.
In the afternoon, square dancing and Chinese folk dancing will be performed. Local restaurants will provide food.
