Reliever Rob Dibble will undergo surgery next week to repair a torn rotator cuff in his right shoulder and will be sidelined for about three months, the Cincinnati Reds said. . . . Tony Gwynn of the San Diego Padres will be sidelined for at least two games because of a strained left calf. . . . Four people were injured, none seriously, when a hydraulic lift platform at Milwaukee County Stadium toppled onto a tent where a radio station was holding a tailgate party for the Brewers’ opening game. Investigators suspected that wind gusts or revelers caused the platform to fall over.
