Palmdale 2, Quartz Hill 1--Chris Paxton scored on Shad Martin’s sacrifice fly in the eighth inning of the Golden League showdown at Palmdale (10-3, 3-1). Paxton doubled with one out and moved to third on a passed ball.

Hart 6, Canyon 3--Aaron Dean hit a three-run home run in the fifth inning, giving the visiting Indians (7-3, 3-0) the lead in a Foothill League game. Dean also had a triple.

Burroughs 4, Crescenta Valley 3--Freshman Anthony Fabrizio drove in Mike Bassett with the go-ahead run with two out in the sixth inning of a Babe Herman tournament game at Stengel Field. Bassett also pitched a complete game, scattering 10 hits for Burroughs (8-6).

South Gate 6, Montclair Prep 2--The Mounties (8-4) made five errors and walked eight in a Babe Herman tournament semifinal. Josh Persell drove in both Montclair Prep runs.

Taft 4, Granada Hills 3--Scott Horowitz and Greg Venger had run-scoring singles in the seventh inning for host Taft (7-6, 2-0) in a Northwest Valley Conference game.

El Camino Real 5, Cleveland 0--Randy Wolf (5-1) allowed four hits and struck out 14. Steve Riback (two for four) drove in two runs.

Chatsworth 11, San Fernando 5--Josh Rawitch was three for four with two RBIs, leading the host Chancellors (11-3, 2-0) in a Northwest Valley Conference game.

Calabasas 6, Santa Paula 1--Anthony Kaufman of Calabasas (8-2, 3-2) hit a two-run home run and singled home a run to back the three-hit pitching of Josh Morton in a Frontier League game at Santa Paula.

Chaminade 3, Modesto Downey 0--Joel Orme (3-2) threw a two-hitter for Chaminade. In a later game, Chaminade defeated Stockton St. Mary’s, 5-1, and Orme pitched the first two innings. Orme was four for six in the two games.

Grant 7, Canoga Park 3--Aaron Amitin and Rudy Velasquez each had two hits and two RBIs and Tony Iovino pitched a three-hitter, leading the host Lancers (4-5, 1-2) in a Valley Pac-8 Conference game.

Buena 2, San Marcos 0--Jason Kimble’s two-run homer in the fifth inning lifted Buena (8-3, 4-1) in a Channel League game. Rick Guzman had the only other two hits for Buena.

L.A. Baptist 7, Acalanes 5--Nate Laufer was two for two and drove in a run for L.A. Baptist (7-4) in the consolation semifinals of the Gladstone tournament in Las Vegas.

Oxnard 5, Ventura 4--Manuel Canales was three for three with two doubles and a home run, leading the visiting Yellowjackets (3-7-1, 1-4-1) in a Channel League game. Canales also pitched a complete game, striking out six.

Saugus 3, Canyon 0--Jamie Gillies (11-2) pitched her sixth shutout and Kelli Kranz homered and tripled.
