Vitesse Semiconductor Reports Lower Losses
Vitesse Semiconductor Corp., a Camarillo maker of gallium arsenide computer chips, said it narrowed its fiscal second-quarter loss to $1.7 million, from a loss of $5.1 million a year earlier.
For the quarter that ended March 31, the company said revenue surged 44%, to $8.72 million from $6.07 million a year earlier. The company attributed the improved results to increased shipments to the communications market and cost reduction.
For the six months that ended March 31, Vitesse pared its loss to $4.4 million, from a loss of $11.6 million a year earlier. Sales for the latest six-month period grew 47%, to $16.8 million from $11.4 million a year earlier.
