Firsts:

--First yellow card of World Cup--Juergen Kohler, German defender, for a rough tackle in the seventh minute.

--First legitimate scoring opportunity--Germany’s Karlheinz Riedle, who dribbled into the box in the eighth minute only to be stopped by Trucco.

--First shot--Erwin Sanchez, Bolivian forward, on a free kick in the ninth minute.

--First offside--Germany in the 14th minute.

--First five corner kicks--Germany.

--First feigned injury--Bolivia’s Luis Cristaldo, who clutched a knee as if he had been shot in the 16th minute. Referee Arturo Brizio Carter of Mexico immediately motioned for him to stand, even though Cristaldo was writhing on the ground, seemingly in pain. Cristaldo sprinted away.

--First indication that fans thought they might be at Wrigley Field--In the first 21 minutes two fans failed to quickly return balls kicked into the stands, believing they were theirs to keep. Unlike baseball, soccer fans are supposed to throw balls back.

--First wave--65th minute.

--First legitimate injury--26th minute, Trucco, sandwiched by German forwards while catching a corner kick. He stayed in the game.
