Car Kills Unidentified Pedestrian
VAN NUYS — An unidentified pedestrian was struck and killed early Saturday while crossing Victory Boulevard, authorities said.
The man, about 30 years old, was not in the crosswalk when he attempted to cross the street near Kester Avenue and was hit by a car driven by Kenneth W. Ng, 30, of Alhambra, said Officer Clark Baker of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Valley Traffic Division.
Ng told police that he did not see the man until it was too late to stop. Neither Ng nor a driver who rear-ended him when Ng slammed on his brakes was seriously injured, Baker said.
The unknown man was pronounced dead at 3:39 a.m. at Northridge Hospital Medical Center, Baker said.
