Pietrowski Wins Junior Sectional

Jakub Pietrowski of Huntington Beach completed his title quest in the boys’ 18 main draw of the Southern California Junior Sectionals on Sunday at Los Caballeros Sports Village in Fountain Valley.

Pietrowski, the top-seeded player, beat No. 2 Derek Pope of Ojai, 6-3, 6-1, in the final. The boys’ 16 final matched Fullerton residents. Joseph Gilbert beat Ryan Moore, 6-3, 7-5, for the title.

Taylor Dent of Newport Beach finished fourth in the boys’ 14 and Melissa Esmero of Huntington Beach beat Naida Vaughan of Corona del Mar, 6-3, 6-3, for third place in the girls’ 12 main draw.

Faye Devera of Villa Park beat Amy Wax of San Diego, 6-4, 6-0, for third place in the girls’ 16 main draw.
