HOUSE PARTY: They’re inviting 7,000 people to a reunion party at the Casa Youth Shelter in Los Alamitos on Aug. 5. That’s how many young people have gone through its two-week family counseling program in the past 16 years. To help track them all down, founder Myldred Jones publicized the party on CBS-TV’s “This Morning” show. The date is also her 85th birthday. . . . Jones also got in a little advice: “Listen to your teen-agers, really listen. Let them know that you care what’s happening in their lives.”

JUICED: Assemblyman Mickey Conroy (R-Orange) got scads of national attention for his bill to paddle graffiti vandals. But he’s a bit of yesterday’s news with O.J. Simpson running hot. Conroy was to appear tonight on ABC’s “20/20” until his interview got bumped by the Simpson coverage. Undeterred, Conroy’s talking to CBS and NBC prime-time news shows about interviews. . . . “Either way, it’s all national media,” says Conroy spokesman Chris Manson: “What we’d really like is to get Mickey across (on) Ted Koppel’s ‘Nightline.’ ”

SOCCER FUN: Alexi Lalas, the red-goateed defender on the U.S. soccer team, which trained in Mission Viejo, basked in his sudden 1994 World Cup fame by joking with TV’s David Letterman this week. He told the talk show host that the 1990 World Cup in Italy was a world apart for him: “I was running around with a bunch of high school friends chasing women and drinking beer. We were in the stands with our faces painted. It never occurred to me then what I’d be doing this year.”

BRUCE LEE PROTEGE: At this year’s Orange County Fair, some of the entertainers have more than a fun time on their minds. A martial arts team of county sheriff’s deputies will put on shows at the 17-day fair Sunday and next Thursday. . . . Their hook: to show young people “there’s something out there besides gangs and drugs,” says team captain Ray Ellis. Ellis, 31, who holds a black belt, says of his start: “I saw a Bruce Lee movie.”
