2 Local Players Pass Up Shrine All-Star Game
The North-South Shrine All-Star Football Game again will be played without any representatives from the Central Los Angeles area.
Fremont quarterback William Yates turned down the Shrine invitation in order to attend the Down Under Bowl, which will be played in Australia and New Zealand. Dennis Fomond, Crenshaw linebacker-fullback, withdrew his name because he had to report to practice at Cal.
Last season, Dorsey receiver Antonio Carrion was removed from the South team because he violated curfew during the practice week.
The 43rd annual game matches all-stars from Northern California against the best from Southern California on Saturday at Cerritos College.
