OXNARD : Man, 46, Is Shot, Hospitalized

A 46-year-old Oxnard man was in serious condition Saturday after being shot three times in an apparent attempted robbery about midnight Friday outside a local bar, police said.

Solorio Cajero Veronica told police that he was shot in front of Yolanda’s Place, 834 W. Wooley Road, after being confronted by several men who were trying to rob him, said Oxnard Police Sgt. Fred Berry.

Veronica staggered down the street to the car of a friend, who drove him to St. John’s Regional Medical Center. He remained in the intensive care unit Saturday, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Police said evidence at the scene suggested that the shooting had actually taken place inside the bar, but no witnesses were found to confirm that scenario, Berry said. There are no suspects, he said.
