After a stellar outing the previous night against Las Vegas, the Bullfrogs dropped back into mediocrity Saturday night, losing to the Oakland Skates for the first time in franchise history, 11-10, in a shootout at the Oakland Memorial Coliseum.
The Bullfrogs started quickly, jumping to a 3-1 first-quarter lead on goals by Shayne Arsenault, Bobby McKillop and Joe Cook.
The Skates rallied behind five consecutive goals to take a 6-3 lead, which they never relinquished. The Bullfrogs tied it, 9-9, with 17 seconds remaining, when they pulled their goalie for an extra skater and Rick Judson scored.
Bullfrogs goalie Chris Gordon was instrumental in forcing the game into a shootout as he came up with a number of key saves in the last five minutes.
The Skates gained the victory on goals by David Moore and Karry Biette in the shootout.
