Four-Star Films : ‘Stagecoach’

The approaching centennial of John Ford’s birth is being marked by a UCLA Film Archive retrospective calling attention to his monumental achievement, but if you have cable you can watch this compelling 1939 classic, one of Ford’s most beloved and finest achievements. Character is revealed against considerable action as passengers aboard a stagecoach travel through dangerous territory. Claire Trevor and John Wayne (both pictured), John Carradine, Thomas Mitchell and others are truly unforgettable (Disney Monday at 9 p.m., Tuesday at 3:25 a.m.).
