VENTURA : Woman Convicted as Accessory in Slaying

A Ventura County jury Tuesday convicted a 19-year-old Port Hueneme woman of accessory to murder related to a fatal shooting in December at a Ventura motel.

Naomi Honohan is the second of five defendants convicted in the death of Paul Martinez, a 21-year-old Los Angeles man who was gunned down on the second-floor balcony of the Motel 6 on Johnson Road.

Honohan could receive three years in state prison or the California Youth Authority, Deputy Dist. Atty. Matthew J. Hardy said.

Martinez was attending a party at the motel when he became embroiled in an argument with his attackers, authorities said. Three men have been charged with shooting him as they drove away. Another man has been charged with accessory to murder along with Honohan.

Two of the defendants--Shaun Bolo, 20, and Willard Bolo, 23--fired shots from a car owned by Honohan, authorities said. But when questioned about the whereabouts of her car that night, Honohan told authorities that it was not at the shooting scene.

Shaun Bolo is her boyfriend, according to court testimony. The Bolos, of Oxnard, are to face trial in November.

The third defendant charged with murder, 20-year-old Steven Hidalgo of Port Hueneme, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and has been sentenced to 18 years to life in prison.

Alfonso Cortez, the other accessory defendant, is to be arraigned Friday.
