One new Prince album isn’t enough? Another...

One new Prince album isn’t enough? Another is on the way, right on the heels of the new Warner Bros.-released “Come” (see Record Rack, Page 56). Technically, the next album, which could be in stores next month, won’t be by Prince since it’s all new material recorded since he got into that symbol business. It’s uncertain what label will release the collection, though expectations are for it to come out on his own NPG label, which released “The Beautiful Experience” EP recently. Under his agreement with Warner Bros., he can also release records on NPG. . . .

Gloria Estefan is moving back to pop from her recent Latin music forays for her next album, a collection of wide-ranging tunes, including Neil Sedaka’s “Breaking Up Is Hard to Do” and Blood, Sweat & Tears’ “You’ve Made Me So Very Happy.” Don’t look for a tour, though, since she’s expecting a baby in December. . . .

November is looking like a good month for new rap releases, with old-school survivor LL Cool J finishing up a new effort scheduled for release by Thanksgiving, and new-school stars Onyx due with their second album around the same time. . . .

Snow, the Canadian bad boy of dancehall reggae whose fast-start career was hampered by parole restrictions stemming from assault convictions, is back with a second album, now due in November after being delayed by several legal problems. . . .

Recent fans of UB40 can catch up with the early sounds of the English reggae-rock band on “Live,” an album recorded on a 1982 tour of Ireland, due Aug. 23. . . . Steve Albini, probably best known for producing Nirvana’s “In Utero,” has his own new band, Shellac, with an album due from Chicago’s Touch and Go Records on Aug. 29. . . .

Canadian blues-rocker Jeff Healey makes a side trip to honor some of his favorites with an album due Oct. 25. Among the selections are the Beatles’ “Yer Blues,” Muddy Waters’ “I’m Ready,” Neil Young’s “The Loner” and two Jimi Hendrix songs: “Freedom” and “Angel.” . . .

Expose has recorded several new songs to include on a greatest-hits package, due in November.*
