Reward Offered in El Monte Sex Assaults
A $10,000 reward has now been offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of a man who has been posing as an immigration officer and sexually assaulting Spanish-speaking women in the El Monte area.
Last week, the El Monte City Council voted to authorize a $5,000 reward, matching one offered earlier in the week by the County Board of Supervisors. “We need to find this man and get him off the street,” Supervisor Gloria Molina said in urging the reward. “It angers me that someone would prey on women under the color of authority.”
Police say the man has sexually assaulted 20 women, always using the same method of operation. He flashes what appears to be a California identification card, asks the victim if her husband is home and then asks to see her immigration papers, police said. Upon gaining entry to a residence, he sexually assaults the women.
The impostor is described as a white or light-skinned Latino man between the ages of 25 and 35. He is between 5 feet, 9 inches and 6 feet tall and weighs between 170 and 200 pounds. He is clean-cut and has blond to light-brown hair and hazel or blue eyes.
