DEJA VU: Northridge’s march to Saturday’s World Series title game (A1, C1) brings back a lot of memories for David Sehnem, a 44-year-old Canoga Park realtor. Sehnem was the winning pitcher the last time a Valley team--Granada Hills--won the series in 1963. . . . He’ll watch the game with a few ex-teammates. “Like most 12-year-olds, I felt like I was in a fog,” he says.

BOOK IT: There’s more good news in Northridge. Today, CSUN celebrates the renovation of Oviatt Library, which will reopen Monday for the fall semester (B1). . . . It may be the most important symbol yet of the school’s rebound from the January quake. “Without a library you are not a university,” says faculty president Nancy Owens.

FAIR: What do World Class Wrestling and high-speed lawn-mower racing have in common? Not much, really. But both are part of the 56th annual Antelope Valley Fair (B9, Valley Life! Page 8), which starts today at the fairgrounds (above) in Lancaster. . . . Over the years, the fair has drawn talent like Johnny Cash and Kenny Rogers. This year, Randy Travis and Clint Black will perform.

HOME SWEET HOME: The only home Paula Harrington cares about these days is her own. She’s the Val Verde realtor who was kidnaped and assaulted a few months ago. The memories are too painful for her at work, so she’s taking some time off (B1). . . . To show thanks for the dozens who searched for her after she disappeared, she’ll host a party Oct. 1 in Val Verde.

THE MARKET: More Valley residents are taking stock in themselves--they’ve joined investment clubs. No great amounts of cash hang in the balance, but they’re not just fooling around, either. . . . One all-woman club, the Magnolia Investment Group, meets monthly to play the market. “I really like the idea of a bunch of women getting together to do something serious,” said member Terry Snyder.
