WIN SOME, LOSE SOME: The L.A. House...
WIN SOME, LOSE SOME: The L.A. House of Blues has apparently scored a big coup with word that the club will host Eric Clapton in a rare, intimate appearance for three or four nights in mid-November. Clapton’s spokeswoman was unable to confirm the booking, but sources at the club and in the concert promotion industry say that the shows will be part of a brief U.S. club tour Clapton will do before mounting a full series of arena shows (including a Nov. 3 stop at the Forum).
On the down side, the House of Blues seems to have lost a chance at a special show by Steely Dan when it botched the dinner reservation of the band’s management at the recent Boz Scaggs show. Sources at the club say that HK Management, which also handles Scaggs, withdrew an offer for a Steely Dan appearance after the incident. An HK spokeswoman says that the idea of a Steely Dan booking had never gone beyond mere conversation, and that the company is planning future bookings at the House of Blues for other clients, including Michael McDonald in December.
