Paradise Creek Heads Arlington Million Field
CHICAGO — Paradise Creek heads a field of 14 grass-course runners in today’s Arlington Million at Arlington International Racecourse.
Paradise Creek won six consecutive stakes this year until being narrowly beaten by Lure in the Bernard Baruch Handicap at Saratoga.
His competition will include three horses from Europe, Muhtarram and Spartan Shareef from England and Petit Loup from France.
The others entered in the 1 1/4-mile race are Alex The Great, Blues Traveller, Fanmore, Fastness, Johann Quatz, Marastani, Mr. Cowboy, Semillon, Split Run and Star Of Cozzene.
Star Of Cozzene won the Million last year, leading Johannn Quatz to the wire, after finishing ninth to Dear Doctor the previous year.
No horse has ever won the Million in successive years. Star Of Cozzene is winless in three starts this year.
Paradise Creek, owned by Masayuki Nishiyama, is the 8-5 early favorite, followed by Muhtarram at 7-2.
