LOS ANGELES COUNTY : Suspect Held in Oregon Charged With Killing Officer
More than nine months after a Manhattan Beach police officer was murdered during a traffic stop, authorities Thursday charged a convicted bank robber in the slaying.
Roger Hoan Brady, 28, who is in custody in Oregon for allegedly shooting a witness during a supermarket robbery near Portland, was charged with one count of murder in the death of Officer Martin Ganz, the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office said.
Brady also was charged with special circumstance allegations that he murdered a peace officer and that he killed for the purpose of avoiding lawful arrest, officials said. The special circumstances make him eligible for the death penalty or life imprisonment without parole if convicted.
