Sen. D’Amato’s Song
Re “As Partisan Lines Harden in Senate, Level of Debate Hits Tragicomic Low,” Aug. 26:
New York’s clowning, song-and-dance man Republican Sen. Alfonse D’Amato to the contrary notwithstanding, and with sincere apologies to all police and law enforcement personnel, I am one taxpayer who is damn happy to have a crime bill passed with “pork” that directly translates to more “pigs” on the street!

* Regarding the crime bill: Republican Rep. Dick Armey calls four people telling how their loved ones were murdered a “dog and pony show.” D’Amato stands up in the Senate and starts singing “Old MacDonald Had a Farm.” And Republican Sen. William Cohen has the chutzpah to whine, “We don’t get no respect.”
Gee, I wonder why!

* What a shameful tirade Sen. D’Amato exhibited on the Senate floor in his pork (“oink, oink”) speech against the much needed crime bill. Perhaps he would have preferred the bill be loaded with baloney, which he seemed to be full of!

* Alfonse D’Amato is an idiot E-I-E-I-O!

* There is good news for Congress. The relief for all the pork consumed last month is on its way, arriving in November.
