Sun Valley Man Drowns at Lake
LAKE ELIZABETH — A Sun Valley man who could not swim drowned here Monday after he waded about 20 feet offshore and his friends lost sight of him, authorities said.
Alfonzo Figueroa, 24, was pulled from the water about 5:20 p.m. by his friends, who thought he was joking and laughed when he began to flail about in the water, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Frank Juarez.
Juarez said the victim’s companions found him about 10 feet under water about 15 minutes after he waded in, Juarez said.
Paramedics airlifted Figueroa to Antelope Valley Hospital Medical Center where he died about 6:30 p.m.
