1994 Prep Preview: Water Polo : Six Teams to Watch : Foothill
Coach: Jim Brumm (eighth year).
1993: 19-9 overall, 5-0 in the Century League; lost to Long Beach Wilson, 11-9, in the Southern Section Division I quarterfinals.
Key returners: Brian Brown, utility, Jr.; Ryan Brown, goalkeeper, Jr.; Garrett Callacci, driver, Sr.; Jay Cooper, driver, Sr.; Dan Hartloff, utility, Sr.; Scott Hay, two-meter defender, Jr.; Paul Maull, goalkeeper, Jr.; Scott Nicholson, utility, Sr.; Jeff Pflueger, utility, So.
Key newcomers: Robby Arroyo, utility, Fr.; Kevin Brantley, driver, Jr.; Nick Ellis, goalie, Fr.; Greg Friend, utility, Jr.; Ryan Gray, driver, Jr.; Adam Metzger, driver, Jr.
Outlook: The Knights won’t be as big and strong as they were last season when they were led by David Hay, who is now at Stanford, but they should still be formidable. Most of this team helped SoCal win the national 15-and-under Junior Olympic title this summer, so they are competition-tested. Brian Brown and Pflueger, who started as a freshman, are the top players, and Arroyo, brother of Villa Park high standout and U.S. national team member Gavin Arroyo, has quickly made his presence known and will start.
